Case Highlights

Strategic defense representation in a landmark criminal investigation involving alleged corporate fraud and asset misappropriation across multiple entities.
Acted for senior executives of a major holding company in Kazakhstan subjected to a criminal probe initiated under Art. 190 and 245 of the Criminal Code (fraud and tax evasion). Our role included early-stage engagement with law enforcement, successful motion for procedural separation of charges, evidence suppression, and international legal opinion coordination. The defense strategy resulted in the termination of criminal prosecution on the principal charge.

WHITE-COLLAR & CRIMINAL DEFENSE

1

Advised on a cross-border acquisition of a strategic logistics operator by a sovereign-backed investment vehicle; transaction value exceeded $250 million.
Led the full legal structuring and execution of a regulated M&A transaction involving state assets, including pre-acquisition restructuring, foreign investment clearance, and compliance with national security legislation. Our firm coordinated due diligence across four jurisdictions and negotiated complex shareholder protections aligned with international SPAs and Kazakh corporate law.

CORPORATE / M&A

2

Advised an international energy consortium on regulatory restructuring of subsoil use rights and PSA compliance across 1,200 km² of licensed oil reserves in western Kazakhstan.
Provided end-to-end legal guidance on the amendment of subsoil use contracts, cross-border JOA restructuring, and state approvals involving the Ministry of Energy and regional authorities. Our legal team also supported negotiations for pipeline infrastructure access and provided strategic guidance on local content, environmental liability, and tax stabilization clauses under the Subsoil and Subsoil Use Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

OIL & GAS / SUBSOIL USE

3

Lead counsel in a multijurisdictional arbitration exceeding $120 million under ICC Rules, representing a global infrastructure conglomerate.
Successfully defended our client in a high-stakes commercial arbitration involving complex EPC contract disputes and force majeure claims. The case required strategic coordination across European and Central Asian jurisdictions, extensive multilingual discovery, and parallel regulatory proceedings. Our team managed the proceedings from statement of claim to final award, achieving a substantial dismissal of claims and enforcement protection across two continents.
